WNBA free agent Chennedy Carter gave her flowers to Rickea Jackson, as the LA Sparks young guard is making quite an impression in Unrivaled. The rookie showed glimpses of her brilliance in Los Angeles, but as soon as she landed in Miami, her game took to a different level, becoming one of the biggest surprises in the young competition.
Even though she's playing in China for the Wuhan Shengfan of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association, Carter is paying close attention to everything happening in the competition co-founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.
On Friday night, she took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Jackson, saying she's doing her thing while scoring from different spots on the court.
"rickea lowkey be cooking lol 3 levels !" Carter tweeted.
After one fan noted that Jackson was showing more confidence, Carter explained the reason behind it.
"happens when you get buckets 😏," she said.
Then, another said she made scoring look easy, and Chennedy Carter praised one specific aspect of her game.
"nice middy game !" she added.
Rickea Jackson and Mist BC played their third game of the season against Phantom in a duel between two winless teams.
The Sparks' young guard had a terrific night, finishing as the second-best scorer of her squad with 24 points (10-from-21 from the field and 2-from-6 from beyond the arc), four rebounds, one assist and one steal. She only scored three points fewer than Breanna Stewart, who tried to carry her squad to the win.
In the end, Phantom beat them 74-69, but Jackson continued turning heads after being unable to show everything she brings to the table with the Sparks.
Chennedy Carter secured major award in China
Meanwhile, Chennedy Carter, who wasn't given an extension offer by the Chicago Sky, is an unrestricted free agency. Before defining her future, she's balling in Asia, even getting awards for her contributions. Last week, she shared with fans she had won the Outstanding Contribution Award.
"I received the biggest award given out tonight appreciate my teammates and coaches ❤️🤞🏼" she said on her Instagram story.
She has played 22 games with Wuhan, scoring 691 total points, averaging 31.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 3.0 steals per game, shooting 56.7% from the field and 62.4% from the free-throw line.
After an impressive 2024 season, she might have new opportunities in the WNBA, but time will tell which teams will take a chance on her.
