After a bounce-back win against the New York Liberty on Friday, A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces will try to tie the second-round series and force a Game 5 at Barclays Center. The veteran center was only the third-best scorer of her team in Game 3 with 19 points, but made an impact at the paint, grabbing 14 defensive rebounds in the 95-81 win.
Game 4 will be crucial if they want to stay in contention for the title and the three-time WNBA MVP is well aware of that. Wilson arrived at Michelob ULTRA Arena wearing a brown suit with a brown bag and golden shoes, looking very formal.
Plenty of fans reacted to her outfit selection, with some hyping her up after winning the 2024 MVP award and saying that she looked locked in.
Others focused on the outfit and its meaning, agreeing that she was ready to handle business.
A'ja Wilson and the Aces are still looking to win a third consecutive WNBA championship but the Liberty appeared to have found their number after taking a 2-0 lead in New York. They didn't have an answer against the Aces in Game 3 and losing today would put them in a complex position for Game 5, even if it's at home.
A'ja Wilson explains the Aces' mentality as they try to three-peat
During a tell-all interview with ESPN on Thursday, A'ja Wilson spoke about the challenges of winning three WNBA championships in a row. The reigning MVP said that the Aces are embracing the villain role, fully aware that everybody's coming for them.
"It's a quote on our jumbotron. 'You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.' That is like us," Wilson said. "They hail us, they hail us, they hail us, then they nail us and nail us, nail us. Sometimes you have no choice but to be like, 'F--- it, this is what y'all do to me. Let's rock. Let me show y'all exactly how we get down and never shake from that."
They have a huge challenge in front, but as long as Wilson is on the court, the Aces will stand a chance.
