Angel Reese is known as one of the WNBA's most competitive figures on the court. However, the Maryland native also has a fun and humorous side that her peers truly appreciate. Connecticut Sun guard Marina Mabrey is the latest individual to receive one of Reese's playful compliments.
Reese, Mabrey and many of the WNBA's biggest stars are preparing for the first-ever Unrivaled women's basketball tournament in Florida. On Saturday, Mabrey shared a hilarious interaction between herself and Angel Reese in the training room on social media. Mabrey revealed that Reese walked in and said she looked "thick."
The comment seemed to catch Marina Mabrey off guard and she responded with a succinct two-word response on her Instagram story:
"It's confirmed," wrote Mabrey.
After confirming she made the comment, Angel Reese said she wasn't aware it was Mabrey. To that, the Sun guard had the following response:
"Yes. All me."
Marina Mabrey was a standout player at the University of Notre Dame. In 2019, the Los Angeles Sparks selected her as the 19th overall pick. After two years with the Dallas Wings, she was traded to the Chicago Sky, where she played alongside Angel Reese.
Mabrey and Reese will both compete in the inaugural edition of the women's basketball tournament, Unrivaled. The 3-on-3 tournament will be played in Miami over eight weeks between January and March and offers fans an exciting new format: smaller courts and seven-minute quarters.
Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese links up with Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. in Florida
The 2024 WNBA season ended in October, which provided Angel Reese with some well-deserved downtime before the Unrivaled competition begins on Jan. 17.
In December, Reese was spotted in Florida at the Orlando Magic vs. Boston Celtics game and linked up with Brazilian soccer superstar Vinicius Jr. at the event. The Real Madrid star later shared a photo of the two athletes on his Instagram account.
Angel Reese has been keeping busy during the offseason. The 22-year-old has been seen at some of the country's most significant sporting and fashion events. She also continues to work hard to build her popular podcast, "Unapologetically Angel."
