WNBA star Marina Mabrey’s sister, Dara Mabrey, took to Instagram to mourn the passing of Pope Francis, who spent 12 years in the Vatican. The Pope was admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital back in February, on account of bronchitis. He spent 38 days in the hospital before returning near the end of March.
This morning, Cardinal Kevin Farrell announced that Pope Francis had passed away. Notre Dame Fightin Irish guard Dara Mabrey immediately took to Instagram to mourn his loss:
"🕊️🕊️🕊️," Mabrey wrote.

“🙏” Boozer wrote.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert also took to Instagram and posted a picture from her meeting with the Pope.
“Rest In Peace, The People’s Pope 🙏✝️,” Engelbert wrote.

WNBA reporter Ashley Nicole Moss acknowledged the news of the Pope’s passing on Instagram. She wrote:

“My friend”: Malike Beasley's model GF Natalia Garibotto reacts to the passing of Pope Francis
Piston shooting guard Malik Beasley's girlfriend Natalia Garibotto also reacted to the passing of Pope Francis by posting a story on Instagram. Garibotto posted a picture of the Pope and a screenshot of his official Instagram account liking one of her posts.
“Rest in Paradise My friend,” Garibotto wrote

Back in 2020, Garibotto posted a picture of herself cosplaying as a schoolgirl, wearing a lingerie-esque uniform. The picture got thousands of likes from Natalia’s followers, but the most unusual one was from @Franciscus, the Pope’s official Instagram account.
Pope Francis’ like on Garibotto’s picture was the topic of much discussion over the next few days. The like was removed a few days later, but not before prompting the Vatican to investigate the matter.
