Cameron Brink was officially sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 WNBA season last month. The LA Sparks' young star was having a notable rookie campaign, leading the league in blocks per game for a couple of weeks before an ACL injury cut her season short.
She's now in the middle of her recovery process, trying to bounce back and return to the court stronger than before. Meanwhile, she's been making moves off the court, drawing a lot of attention from fans on social media.
Brink announced on Instagram that she's featured as the cover for Flaunt Magazine, an LA-based publication established in the 90s.
"Excited to have graced the cover for @flauntmagazine The Gold Standard Issue!" Brink captioned the post.
Plenty of fans reacted to Brink's announcement, sharing their excitement to see the forward doing well during her rehab process and saying nothing but good things about the player.
One fan called her the white version of Wilt Chamberlain.
Another fan said that she doesn't need her ACL to 'slay.'
Somebody said she should become a model instead of a basketball player.
Fellow WNBA players Nika Muhl, Angel Reese and Lexie Hull showered her with praise in the comments.
Cameron Brink explains what she learned during her rookie season
Cameron Brink is just starting her professional career, but she's already learned valuable lessons about what it takes to win. Speaking to Flaunt Magazine, Brink explained that the veterans are trying to help the young players however they can.
"I think, especially this year, I’m learning how hard it is to win. It is extremely hard. So every single game is going to be a battle. What I’m learning from the vets is that they show up every day with an amazing attitude and the willingness to help the rookies.
"It’s honestly inspirational for me just playing with these women who show up every day even when the days are hard. A lot of them are mothers. They have kids. This is how they support their families, so this is really important stuff, and I really just respect not just my teammates and my veterans, but the women and people across the league that really pour their everything into it."
The LA Sparks aren't competitive right now, but with Cameron Brink, they can make some noise in the league in the mid and long-term.
