The Minnesota Lynx continued their rich vein of form in the WNBA and put on yet another dominant display on the basketball court on Tuesday. The Lynx defeated the defending champions Las Vegas Aces by a comprehensive 100-86 scoreline.
Cheryl Reeve's Lynx also handed Becky Hammon's Aces their third consecutive defeat in the league. Aces' superstar A'ja Wilson had another monster game. The reigning Finals MVP dropped a stat line of 28 points, eight rebounds and two steals.
Wilson's individual brilliance was overshadowed by Lynx's players in the starting lineup. Minnesota's starting lineup scripted history on Tuesday as the Aces were hit with an offensive onslaught.
Lynx's starting lineup comprising of Napheesa Collier, Kayla McBride, Alanna Smith, Bridget Carleton and Courtney Williams fired in unison at the offensive end.
As a result, the Minnesota Lynx became the first team in WNBA history to have all five players in the starting lineup put up 14+ points, 4+ rebounds, and 1+ 3-pointers made in a game.
Alanna Smith led with 18 points, four rebounds and four made 3-pointers. Kayla McBride chipped in with 16 points, four rebounds and two 3-pointers. Bridget Carleton scored 15 points, five rebounds and knocked down five jumpers from beyond the arc.
Courtney Williams registered a stat line of 15 points, four rebounds and one made 3-point attempt. Napheesa Collier added 14 points, six rebounds and knocked down two 3s in the game.
With Lynx's starting lineup firing in unison, the Aces had no chance of scripting a comeback into the game. For Minnesota, it was sublime execution on the offensive end of the floor as they consolidated their position at the top of the Western Conference standings.
Minnesota Lynx are on a roll
Cheryl Reeve's team is firing on all cylinders. The Lynx registered their fifth win in the last six games on Tuesday. Lynx's overall record of 9-3 is the best in the Western Conference, and the third-best in the league far this season.
Collier is averaging 21.4 points and 11.4 rebounds while McBride averages 18.0 ppg and 2.9 apg. McBride is shooting lights out from beyond the arc.
The 10-year veteran is shooting 51.2% from 3-point range on 7.3 attempts per game from beyond the arc.
The Minnesota Lynx will look to continue their dominance when they face the LA Sparks at Target Center on Friday.
