Caitlin Clark had one of the worst performances of her historic rookie season in her WNBA playoff debut. In 36 minutes of action, Clark made just four of her 17 attempts. The Rookie of the Year frontrunner also struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 2-13 from three-point range.
The Connecticut Sun dominated the Indiana Fever 93-69 in Game 1 of the opening round of the 2024 WNBA playoffs, shutting down the rookie phenom in her first playoff game.
On Monday's episode of NBA Today, ESPN's Monica McNutt showed confidence in Clark, predicting a bounce-back performance in Game 2.
"You've got to understand, the Connecticut Sun have been a top-three, if not the number-one, defensive team in the WNBA consistently four out of the last five seasons," McNutt said.
"This was also the game Caitlin Clark opened the season with... Caitlin has a track record of when she has low-scoring games, she bounces back with plus-25-point performances," she added.
McNutt's final argument is fact. On four separate occasions this season, Clark has followed up a single-digit scoring game with a 20-plus point performance.
