WNBA fans weren't thrilled after Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese revealed how much she pays for rent. After attending the 2024 edition of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York City, the forward went to Instagram Live to talk with some fans.
She said that her salary from WNBA isn't enough to pay her bills.
“Hating pays my bills, baby. I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at [in Chicago]. I’m gonna do the math real quick. I don’t even know my [WNBA] salary,” she said.
The person next to her said a number, but Reese quickly corrected them, giving her and the audience the actual price of her rent.
"No, my rent is more than that! It's $8,000. I'm living beyond my means," Reese said.
The $1.5 million basketball star (according to Celebrity Net Worth) paying that much for rent bothered fans. Some said she must make better decisions with her money.
Others didn't mince words when noting how much better she could have used that money.
What other source of income does Angel Reese have?
The WNBA salaries aren't arguably the best by any means; several players find other sources of income besides going to play overseas during the league's offseason. In certain cases, like Angel Reese's, brands offer deals to players.
The former LSU star isn't the exception, as she has lucrative deals with major companies. Beats by Dre, PlayStation, McDonald's, Reebok, Raisin Cane's and Reese's have all completed deals with the No. 7 overall pick.
She's also worked with Khloe Kardashian's jean brand, leading a campaign focused on tall women. The young player, one would say, is well covered. Up until July 30, Celebrity Net Worth said she had a net worth of $1.5 million, making her a millionaire.
