Caitlin Clark's teammate Erica Wheeler worried fans with one of her latest announcements on Threads. The Indiana Fever veteran shared that her agent prepared her for a busy free agency amid uncertainty regarding her future with the 2016 WNBA champions.
Wheeler has been named one of the potential candidates to leave the Fever this season, either via trade or through the free market. After signing a two-year, $444,308 contract with the Fever ahead of the 2023 season, her future appears to be away from the Eastern Conference squad.
"My agent sent me a list for free agency Tuhhhhh 😮💨😎," she posted on Friday.
In the last several weeks, rumors about a potential Erica Wheeler exit from the Fever became louder, especially after Dallas Wings forward Satou Sabally announced she would join a different team ahead of the 2025 WNBA season.
Wheeler was one of Indiana's most important veterans last year, and some fans rejected the idea that she would be gone soon. After playing 39 games in 2024, her relationship with the fan base became closer, with Wheeler giving a shoutout to the supporters and Caitlin Clark on Tuesday.
"I love my Fever Fans they so solid! Hahaha I love it! Shoutout to CC tho 😎," Wheeler wrote.
In 14.0 minutes, Wheeler averaged 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, shooting 41.1% from the field and 84.6% from the free-throw line.
