NaLyssa Smith shook the basketball world when she posted a cryptic message on her Instagram story on Monday. While fans were speculating what she meant, her brother Rodney Smith took to his X account to clear the air:

"It's not even basketball related, relax"

NaLyssa posted the following story which aroused speculation among fans regarding her situation with the Indiana Fever:

“life is all about knowin yo worth, don’t stay nowhere u not wanted n appreciated"

One major reason it has ignited a frenzy is because of the upcoming WNBA expansion draft. The Fever are yet to officially disclose which players they are choosing to protect.

While her cryptic message led many to believe she could join the new Golden State Valkyries, Indiana might not be willing to lose her now that they're building a strong team with new coach Stephanie White, Caitlin Clark and Aaliyah Boston.

NaLyssa Smith trends for heated exchange during game in China

NaLyssa Smith joined the trend of WNBA players moving overseas to compete during the offseason. However, a video trended of her getting into a physical altercation with an opponent during a preseason game in China.

Smith signed a contract to play for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in China and once again showed the physical side to her game. During the game, she reacted after she was shoved by an opponent on a rebound attempt.

Her teammates had to intervene to prevent further escalation, but in the end, the referee issued seven TKs during the game.

Smith's competing in an overseas league has once again led to calls for the WNBA to revise the wage structures of the players, as they are deemed underpaid by many.
