Napheesa Collier's husband Alex Bazzell celebrates 2-year anniversary with sweet post for his 'queen'

Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier and her husband Alex Bazzell celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Monday. Bazzell put up a sweet post for his "queen" on Instagram ahead of the Lynx's do-or-die Game 5 on Tuesday against the Connecticut Sun.

Bazzell shared a photo of himself with his wife in a restaurant. He appreciated her giving him some time despite her busy schedule with Minnesota in a tense playoff semifinal versus Connecticut.

"2 years strong & found a way to enjoy a date night. ❤️🥂 Anniversary dinner with my Queen! @napheesa24," Bazzell wrote.

Collier and Bazzell first met when she was a freshman for the UConn Huskies in 2016, as per CT Insider. He was a trainer and they worked together to develop her game. They began dating during her third year and became engaged in October 2019.

The couple welcomed their first child together in November 2021 and were finally married on Oct. 7, 2022, in her hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. While Collier turned into one of the best players in the WNBA, Bazzell carved himself a reputation as one of the best trainers in the world.

Bazzell has worked with NBA stars such as Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving and Trae Young. He also continues to work with his wife, who is coming off the best season of her career and finished second to A'ja Wilson in MVP voting.

Napheesa Collier is the daughter of Sarah and Gamal Collier. Sarah was originally from Missouri, while his father is the son of Gershon Collier, the former Chief Justice of Sierra Leone and ambassador to the United States.

They supported Napheesa's dream of playing basketball, so Alex Bazzell won their hearts through the sport. Bazzell told CT Insider back in 2021 how he managed to get through to the Colliers by working with their daughter in the gym.

"You're trying to, one, win their approval from a training standpoint and it's a whole different ball game when it comes to dating their daughter," Bazzell said.

"So that was an experience in itself, but they were so welcoming and they're just good people, cool people. They saw the writing on the wall. We thought we were being a little more secretive than we were. We thought no one knew and it turns out everyone knew."

Napheesa will need all the support for Game 5 on Tuesday as the Lynx try to advance to the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2017.
