Napheesa Collier's husband, Alex Bazzell, congratulated Dan Rolfes, the coach of the girls' basketball team of Missouri's Incarnate Word Academy. The Red Knights tied a record with 138 consecutive wins.
Rolfes reposted MaxPreps' tweet that alluded to the Red Knights tying the record set by Central Plains Oilers, from 2015 to 2020.
"Super proud coach!!!!" Rolfes wrote in his post.
Bazzeqll dropped a one-word reaction.
"Congrats!" Bazzell wrote.
The team has remained undefeated in its last four seasons. They went 29-0 in 2020-21 and 2021-22, before improving to 32-0 and then dropping to 31-0 the last two years. The Red Knights are 7-0 this season.
Bazzell, meanwhile, will shift his focus to Unrivaled, a league cofounded by Collier and Breanna Stewart. Bazzell is the president of the league, which is set to start on Jan. 17. Collier and Stewart will also participate.
Napheesa Collier's husband Alex Bazzell compares her game to Steph Curry
For any basketball player to be included in the same conversation as Steph Curry is ultimate respect to their talent. Napheesa Collier has earned that right.
The reigning WNBA Defensive Player of the Year had arguably the best season of her career. Not only did she dominate on the defensive end, she also led her team's offense.
In conversation with "The Minnesota Star Tribune," Collier's husband Alex Bazzell, also her personal coach, gave the WNBA star a big compliment. Bazzell said that Collier's off-the-ball instincts are similar to Steph Curry's.
"I would compare it to Steph [Curry] in the NBA," Bazzell said. "It’s what makes him great and her great. They’re not just running around, they’re cutting with a purpose. Always at the right moment. That’s impossible to game-plan for. You can look at tendencies all you want. But there’s not a lot of tendencies in feel."
Bazzell added that when it comes to shooting the ball, Collier has a touch like 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, one of the greatest scorers in NBA history.
Last season, Napheesa Collier averaged 20.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. She shot 49.2% from the field and 31.0% from the 3-point line.
