Napheesa Collier Stats Tonight: How did reigning DPOY fare in Game 5 vs Sun? 

Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) Napheesa Collier spearheaded the Minnesota Lynx to an 88-77 win over the Connecticut Sun in their do-or-die Game 5 on Tuesday, securing a spot in the WNBA Finals.

Collier is enjoying the best postseason of her career, averaging 27.2 points and 3.8 assists (both playoff highs) along with 9.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.7 blocks per game heading into the game.

With their victory over the Connecticut Sun in the semifinals, Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx earned their first WNBA Finals appearance since 2017, the year they captured their fourth title in seven seasons.

Tonight, Collier delivered with a game-high 27 points and added 11 rebounds, shooting 10-for-16 from the field and blocking four shots.

Courtney Williams contributed 24 points, while Kayla McBride added 19 markers to help the Lynx clinch the win.

For the Sun, DiJonai Carrington scored 17 points, Brionna Jones contributed 14, DeWanna Bonner put up 14 and Tyasha Harris added 12.

Looking at Napheesa Collier’s performance vs. Liberty this season ahead of WNBA Finals matchup

The Minnesota Lynx are set to face the New York Liberty, who finished the regular season with the league's best record (32-8) and knocked out the defending champions, Las Vegas Aces, in the semifinals.

Minnesota had a winning record against the Liberty during the regular season, defeating them twice in three matchups. Their first meeting in May saw the Lynx win by 17 points, while the second was a nine-point victory for the Liberty.

In their most recent matchup in September, the Lynx came out on top, 88-79.

Against the Liberty this season, Napheesa Collier averaged 16.0 points, 11.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

Her scoring average against New York is tied for her lowest against any team this season, matching her 16.0 points per game against the Chicago Sky.

However, her 4.7 assists per game against the Liberty is her highest against any opponent this season, and her rebounding total is tied for the best, matching her performance against the Seattle Storm.

One area where Collier struggled was three-point shooting. She made 31.0% of her threes in the regular season but only converted 28.6% from beyond the arc against the Liberty.
