Angel Reese was named the WNBA Rookie of the Month for June after a series of terrific performances. The Chicago Sky rookie started a notable double-double streak at the start of June that is yet to end after she broke Candace Parker's record of consecutive DDs in a single season.

Reese has earned a reputation as a rebounder, but NBA Twitter has been more suspicious about her numbers in the past couple of days. X user @itsAntWright posted a screenshot of a play-by-play that showed Reese's missed layups and how she got five consecutive rebounds off those missed shots.

“Angel Reese finished with 27 rebounds," the user captioned the post.

Many fans reacted to the picture, accusing the young forward of stat-padding.

"Stat-padding like this is crazy. That's *5 o-rebs just from that single possession," one fan noted.
"Stat padding like she needed to complete an in game challenge for extra XP," another fan said.
"I admit that I haven’t watched all of her minutes, but I see an awful lot of highlights of her missing layups and getting her own rebound like 3 or 4 times in a row. Great hustle, but questionable stats," a third fan said.

Other fans compared her to an NBA player who is a great rebounder but doesn't impact games, and claimed that this is the only way Angel Reese can stay relevant in the league and questioned the defenders for allowing this to happen.

"Is she the WNBA version of Drummond in terms of rebounding?," one fan asked.

TikTok video parodies Angel Reese's misses under the rim

While these fans accused Reese of stat padding, others made fun of how she allegedly misses layups and gets rebounds under the rim. It's clear that she needs to improve her offensive arsenal, and she even admitted that the offense will get better over time, but fans aren't missing chances to diss her.

A video shared on X showed two TikTok users parodying Angel Reese missing layups and grabbing rebounds multiple times before scoring.

The focus hasn't changed for Reese, apparently, especially knowing that she's set to play in the All-Star Game this season. She was selected as part of the WNBA Team, where she'll share touches with Caitlin Clark for the first time in their careers.

“I'm just so happy. I know the work I put in. Coming into this league so many people doubted me and didn't think my game would translate… but I trusted the process and believed. I'm thankful that I dropped to seven and was able to come to Chicago," Reese said about the honor.

Despite all the bad comments, Reese remains focused and is set to help her team compete in a complex 2024 WNBA season.
