Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin have shared a close bond since they first linked up on the Iowa Hawkeyes, helping the program go to two national championship games while forming a terrific friendship that is still going strong.
Talking with David Eickholt of CBS Sports, the Indiana Fever star touched on Martin's early success with Laces on Unrivaled while sharing her plans for a future reunion.
"I think people are just seeing her confidence grow and grow. I'm really happy for her and hopefully, I can recruit to the Fever somehow, someway one day, who knows. I'm gonna try to figure that out. It's my goal at some point in my career," Clark said.
They are 3-0 after beating Vinyl 83-79 on Friday to extend their unbeaten run in the early stages of the competition.
When Eickholt noted they might perform better going against each other than as teammates, Caitlin Clark agreed.
"That's true. We need to have our little beef and our little battle, so we might actually keep her away from us, just so we can keep going at it," she added.
Whenever Clark and Martin see each other on the court, they're always all over one another, but they lock in once the game starts and play with everything to help their teams win. Caitlin knows they make each other better and wants to keep things that way.
Martin might have more chances to showcase her talents and clash with Clark than with the Las Vegas Aces after being selected by the Golden State Valkyries in the expansion draft.
Kate Martin celebrated Caitlin Clark with heartfelt message on special day
Caitlin Clark turned 23 on Jan. 22, bringing a lot of people together to wish her a happy birthday. The former No. 18 overall pick in the WNBA Draft took to Instagram story to celebrate her longtime friend with a collage of photos.
"Happy Birthday🤍 Love you," Martin wrote.
Clark reposted the story with a teary-eyed emoji. The post included photos of Martin and Clark in the WNBA, another with some former Iowa teammates, one of Clark watching a section dedicated to her on Iowa and lastly, one of them hugging after winning a tournament.
These two players are talented and young and we'll likely see them go at each other in the WNBA for many years. They haven't lost love for each other, but have maintained that competitiveness.
