Nika Muhl is playing limited minutes and games for the Seattle Storm in her rookie season, but she remains popular among WNBA fans. Muhl recently went viral when a fan uploaded a couple of videos of the Storm guard and her boyfriend Nahiem Alleyne on social media.
In the videos below, Muhl and Alleyne shared a moment after the Storm's loss to the Atlanta Dream on Friday night. Alleyne showed his support by wearing Muhl's home jersey courtside, but it was his touching gesture that melted some people's hearts.
The newly signed AEK player was staring at Muhl, who was talking to him intently. It was a sweet moment between the couple, with Alleyne recently arriving in Greece to start his pro career.
Here are a couple of videos of the couple that went viral on TikTok:
Nika Muhl and Nahiem Alleyne met during their time at the University of Connecticut, wherein they played for the women's and men's teams, respectively. Muhl was at UConn from 2020 to 2024, helping the Huskies make three Final Four appearances.
On the other hand, Alleyne played just one season at UConn during the 2022-23 campaign. He began his collegiate career with the Virginia Tech Hokies, playing three years there before moving to the Huskies. He finished his fifth and final year of eligibility with the St. John's Red Storm.
According to his Instagram account, Alleyne has turned professional and signed a deal with Greek club AEK B.C. based in Athens. He will be playing alongside other American players such as Prentiss Hubb, Grant Golden and Hunter Hale.
Nika Muhl still looking to score her first career points
After four seasons at UConn, Nika Muhl waived his final year of eligibility to enter the 2024 WNBA Draft. Seattle Storm selected Muhl 14th overall despite the team's number of backcourt players already on the roster.
It has been a rough start for Muhl's career in the WNBA because of her position in the pecking order behind Jewell Loyd, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Victoria Vivians and Sami Whitcomb. She has only played a total of 13 games this season and is still waiting to score her first career points.
Muhl is averaging 0.5 rebounds and 0.1 assists and has mostly been used during garbage time. She has 34 minutes under her belt, which has angered her fanbase. She remains popular among fans, who have called out the Storm for her lack of minutes.
It probably didn't help that she had to sit out the first three games of her WNBA career due to visa issues. With 13 games remaining in the regular season, Muhl has plenty of opportunities to score her first bucket ever as a pro.
