Caitlin Clark and the rest of the 2024 WNBA draft did plenty of media availability on Monday night for fans to get to know them. Clark was the first overall pick by the Indiana Fever, while Cameron Brink went No. 2 to the LA Sparks and Kamilla Cardoso came in third overall to the Chicago Sky.
One of the media outlets that spoke to the draftees was Complex Sports. They asked which two players they would want to team up with in a hypothetical 3-on-3 game.
Clark had the most unique answer, as she chose LeBron James and Steph Curry, while the rest of the field picked WNBA legends or college teammates. It was not a bad answer considering she will be teaming up with two of the greatest basketball players in history.
WNBA fans were in a frenzy with Caitlin Clark's frank answer, which showed that she took the question seriously and wanted to win any hypothetical 3-on-3 matchups.
Some even acknowledged her competitiveness and liked the way she answered the question. Here are some of the best comments:
"Caitlin not a girl’s girl?"
"Caitlin's team winning 956-3."
"Caitlin be thinking to win, fan already."
"Caitlin only one with some sense I’m coming around lol"
"Caitlin the only one with some damn sense"
Caitlin Clark's impact on the WNBA felt immediately
Caitlin Clark continued to set records after the 2024 WNBA draft, which was the most-watched draft in league history with 2.4 million viewers on ESPN. Clark's Indiana Fever jerseys sold out in about an hour, and she has been appearing on mainstream media shows.
The defending back-to-back champions Las Vegas Aces changed venues for their showdown against the Fever to increase their capacity from 12,000 to 20,000. The Phoenix Mercury used her to promote their season matchup along with Diana Taurasi, who was one of the loudest critics of the Iowa star.
Ticket prices for her away games increased tremendously, which means there's a demand to see her play. Clark also appeared on "Saturday Night Live" and roasted Michael Che on the "Weekend Update."
The latest example of Clark's popularity is her rumored deal with Nike worth eight figures. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that a contract agreement is near with the 22-year-old sharpshooter set to have her own signature shoe.
Clark also has sponsorship deals with brands like Gatorade, State Farm and Panini. Even before she declared for the WNBA draft, Ice Cube offered her $5 million to play 10 games on his Big3 League.
