Accustomed to success, A'ja Wilson's Aces were left reeling after a sixth loss of the season on Saturday. Despite putting up a dominant 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists, the New York Liberty prevailed and in the subsequent press conference, Wilson was overcome with emotion and visibly choked up.
What did A'ja Wilson say during the press conference?
Wilson ventilated her emotions passionately in front of reporters, emphasizing how much her teammates meant to her and shouldering accountability for the defending champions' (6-6) start to the season.
"I want to be the best person, I want to be the best teammate, 'cause that's how I get the best out of my team. So when it comes to wins and losses, when I tell you I break this game down piece by piece, it's because I don't want to be great for you guys. But I want to be great for my team, I want to be great for this franchise. And it is hard as sh*t, it is hard as sh*t 'cause there's a ton of people who want to break you down," Wilson said.
Las Vegas Aces will look to bounce back from their dispiritng loss when they take on Seattle Storm on Wednesday night.
