As Caitlin Clark has risen in prominence over the last two years, she has been seen in the company of key personalities inside and outside the basketball world. Fans have been quick to notice how her social circle has been growing, as was the case this weekend.
Some eagle-eyed netizens noted that the Indiana Fever guard is now following Natalija Jokic, wife of three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, on Instagram. Notably, Mrs. Jokic has started following Clark as well.
One fan on X (formerly Twitter) knew exactly what to call the two women.
"caitlin & jokic's wife are moots on insta now how sweet," said this online user.
"Moots" is a contemporary term for two individuals following each other on a particular social media platform, also known as "mutuals." Though Caitlin Clark—named TIME magazine's 2024 Athlete of the Year—has around three million Instagram followers, she follows just 897 accounts. Natalija Jokic has apparently been included in that group.
The moots dynamic between Jokic and Clark led to a number of reactions from netizens.
"One loves horses, the other loves golf lmao," said one netizen.
"wait what?" said another, who was apparently surprised at the connection between the two.
"He might throw a party," commented another netizen.
Other online users decided to drop some more tidbits that could explain why the two women decided to follow each other on Instagram.
"and both her & jokic are under the same management agency," said one online user.
"She and him have the same agent, I think," echoed another.
"they all share the same stylist," added another netizen.
Indeed, Clark signed with Excel Sports Management—the same agency that handles Jokic—in October 2023. Other top athletes under the Excel Sports umbrella include gold legend Tiger Woods, MLB great Derek Jeter and former NFL stars Peyton and Eli Manning.
Caitlin Clark spotted at NFL game with Taylor Swift
Perhaps the best proof of Caitlin Clark's transcendental fame was her interaction with the world's biggest pop star at an NFL game this past weekend.
During the divisional-round game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans on Saturday, cameras caught Clark sitting next to Taylor Swift in a suite.
It appears that the WNBA phenom has finally taken up Swift on her Chiefs game invite, which the pop star sent out during her Eras Tour. It should also be noted that earlier this month, Caitlin Clark appeared on the "New Heights" podcast co-hosted by Swift's boyfriend and Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce.
