Paige Bueckers surprised plenty of fans with an appearance in an Unrivaled promo. With a little over a month before the start of their inaugural campaign, the competition created by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart will feature 36 of the best female players in the world in a 3-on-3 format.
Ahead of the start of the season on Jan. 17, the league's social media team keeps treating fans and one of their latest posts caused a stir among fans who believed that two of the most hyped college players will be joining the competition while they're still playing for their programs.
A video shared on Thursday on Instagram shows the considered No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Paige Bueckers speaking on the phone about a campaign. She asks the person on the other side if they have 36 seconds, but the video ends when she's about to share the details.
Plenty of fans reacted to the video, especially after figuring that the other person in the clip was LSU star Flau'jae Johnson. Some were shocked by the prospect of seeing these two college stars joining Unrivaled next year.
Others tried to be more realistic and shared their skepticism about having these two players available when the league starts.
Flau'jae Johnson announces role in first Unrivaled League season after promo with Paige Bueckers
One hour after they sent everybody into a frenzy, Flau'jae Johnson revealed what she'll do during the first-ever season of Unrivaled League. The LSU star shared a message on her Instagram profile to announce she will be a NIL ambassador for the competition.
"The Future is Unrivaled. Excited to join the Unrivaled team as an NIL Ambassador 👑💜4️⃣," she captioned the post.
The second group of fans were right, as both Johnson and Bueckers are expected to fight for the national championship this season, meaning that having to compete in both Unrivaled and college wouldn't be ideal.
Paige Bueckers is expected to join the league once she makes it to the WNBA and while Johnson hasn't announced anything, it's not hard to imagine that she'll follow the UConn star to the ambitious 3-on-3 league.
