Dallas Wings point guard Arike Ogunbowale had a record-breaking offensive outing in her fourth straight WNBA All-Star Game, leading her team to an impressive 117-109 victory over Team USA on Saturday in Phoenix. Three-time Super Bowl champion and basketball fan Patrick Mahomes was among those impressed with her performance.

27-year-old Ogunbowale, a former Notre Dame star, exploded for a WNBA All-Star Game record 34 points, all coming in the second half after she was held scoreless in the first 24 minutes.

She was not to be stopped when she found her groove, going 8-of-13 from deep, to help turn things around for Team WNBA. She also had six assists, three rebounds and two steals in 31 minutes to win her second All-Star MVP award, after the one in 2021.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Mahomes expressed his excitement and awe for what Arike Ogunbowale did, writing:

"Yo! @Arike_O is hoopin hooping!"

Arike Ogunbowale's tally topped the previous record set by Jewell Loyd of the Seattle Storm last year, where she led Team Stewart to a 143-127 victory over Team Wilson. When she won All-Star Game MVP in 2021, the Wings All-Star guard dropped 26 points, going 10-of-18 from the field and 5-of-10 from three.

Meanwhile, backstopping Ogunbowale in Phoenix on Saturday were Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream and Nneka Ogwumike of the Storm, who had 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Rookie Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds while fellow freshman Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever had four points and 10 assists.

Over at Team USA, Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty had a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds, with A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces adding 22 points.

Arike Ogunbowale hopes stellar All-Star Game performance gives boost for the second half of the season

Things have been rough for the Dallas Wings so far in the ongoing WNBA season but their star point guard Arike Ogumbowale hopes that her stellar showing in Saturday's All-Star Game will provide a boost for the remainder of their campaign.

The Wings are currently last in the race midway into the 2024 season with a 6-19 record. Ogunbowale is leading the team with 22.3 points, 5.2 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 steals.

Following her record-breaking performance on Saturday, Arike Ogunbowale spoke of how blessed she is to be in the position she is in and hoped that better things come for her and her team in the second half of the season.

The former Notre Dame star said:

"Yeah it (All-Star performance) gives you a little bit of confidence. But just glory to God to be here, being blessed to play the game I love and in front of all these fans."
