The Dallas Wings' acquisition of the top overall pick in the upcoming WNBA draft has sparked speculation that Paige Bueckers could join the team. Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale publicly expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of playing alongside Bueckers.
Some WNBA insiders report that Paige Bueckers might consider not playing for the Dallas Wings if they select her in the draft. If Bueckers were to opt out, she could potentially re-enter the draft in 2026, when a new collective bargaining agreement is expected to be in place.
UConn's Paige Bueckers opens up on the different offensive roles assigned to her
UConn's undefeated streak ended last week with a 79-68 loss to Notre Dame. After the game, Paige Bueckers spoke with UCTV Sports, discussing her efforts to find her rhythm while adapting to playing off the ball.
"Being on-ball the entire time is probably easier to guard than moving off the ball, [because you] continue to work to try and get other people open, screen, cut, and play within the flow of the offense," Bueckers said.
"There's times too where you get the ball and you make plays, you distribute, you get to the rack and create from there," Bueckers added. "Again, always just trying to find that balance."
She scored 25 points on 55% shooting in the loss against the Fighting Irish. Furthermore, in UConn's previous game, a 79-44 rout of Georgetown, Bueckers had 24 points, two assists and two rebounds.
Bueckers is averaging 19.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists this season, shooting 56.1% from the field. With her impressive play, fans are eagerly awaiting her next step, particularly with the WNBA draft looming.
