Caitlin Clark knew Friday night's game against the Chicago Sky was special and brought a special pair of shoes for the occasion. The No. 1 overall pick put on a show against Angel Reese and company while wearing the Nike Kobe 6 Protro PE (which stands for 'players edition' or 'player exclusive').
The Indiana Fever's official X account tweeted a photo and video of Clark wearing the shoes ahead of the big game.
Nike released a new Kobe Bryant shoe this week, the 8 Protro Mambacita edition. They are set to release more on Sept. 6, but Caitlin Clark got ones with a terrific design and colorway.
The shoes potentially impacted Clark's game, as she went off on the Chicago Sky, dominating them at their arena and taking a lopsided win in the fourth and final game between these teams in the 2024 WNBA regular season.
Clark scored a career-high 31 points, to go along with 12 assists and four rebounds, shooting five 3-pointers and going 8-of-14 from the field. She became the first rookie to record 30+ points and 10+ assists in a game in WNBA history.
Despite the hard fouls she received, Clark was on a mission and ripped into the Sky with one of the best performances in the W this campaign.
Angel Reese emulated Caitlin Clark, unveiled unreleased Reebok shoes
Caitlin Clark wasn't the only one with brand-new shoes to show off in Friday's game. Fellow rookie sensation Angel Reese did the same by unveiling the unreleased Reebok 'Engine A,' set to release next year.
These shoes will mark a new era for Reebok, as they will re-launch basketball sneakers in over a decade, with the 'Engine A' getting the honor to lead the brand's new plans.
Caitlin Clark wore Kobe Bryant shoes while Angel Reese wore shoes made by a company led by Shaquille O'Neal. These two were teammates turned rivals at a point in their careers.
Angel Reese recorded another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, but she couldn't help the team escape a fifth successive loss.
The Sky are still holding on to that eighth spot in the standings, but the Atlanta Dream could ruin their plans while the Washington Mystics and Dallas Wings are getting closer to Reese and company.
