DeWanna Bonner called out her girlfriend Alyssa Thomas in her latest Instagram story. The Connecticut Sun veteran, who has 64.1K followers on Instagram, uploaded a monochrome picture of her and Thomas on the platform on Sunday.
"1 of 1..." Bonner captioned the post.
The picture shows Bonner and Thomas sitting closely with the former leaning on the latter's arm. The Connecticut Sun duo is currently enjoying the offseason having a successful playoff run last season. The Sun finished the season with a 28–12 record and qualified for the playoffs where they defeated the Indiana Fever 2–0 in the first round.
They faced the Minnesota Lynx in the semi-finals but fell short against the Napheesa Collier-led squad. They lost the series 2–3, and the Lynx advanced to the WNBA finals where they succumbed against the eventual WNBA champions, NY Liberty.
During a talk with CBS News on Jun. 24, Bonner said she entered a relationship with Thomas in 2020 during the WNBA bubble.
"You know, being in the bubble, we had nothing to do," Bonner said. "We couldn't leave, it was just in the hotel room all day every day, around the same person. So if you can do that, and spend that time with somebody and really enjoy it, I felt like, 'OK, this could really be my person.'"
Thomas proposed to her teammate in July 2023. The couple have been engaged for some time now and are yet to tie the knot.
DeWanna Bonner reacts to her fiancée Alyssa Thomas' Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame induction
DeWanna Bonner congratulated her fiancée and teammate Alyssa Thomas on Friday for getting inducted into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame. Bonner uploaded an Instagram story featuring a snapshot of Thomas on the big screen during her induction at the Maryland Terrapins football field.
The Sun forward accompanied a crown emoji with her post, calling Thomas a queen.
Brenda Frese, who coached Thomas from 2010-14, also praised the Sun star.
"She’s the greatest, not only in the history of women's basketball here at Maryland, but even potentially on the men's side as well,” Frese said. “She’s one of the greatest to ever come through Maryland. She made the Olympic team and was a three-time player of the year. She just put her stamp and her legacy on everything."
Thomas had a good run with the Sun this season, averaging 10.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game.
