Reggie Miller had some advice for Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. After she was pushed in the back by Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter, everybody has had something to say about the situation.
The former NBA player-turned-analyst offered his two pennies on the situation, admitting that Clark should have responded to the physical altercations the same way Angel Reese did when Alyssa Thomas roughed her up.
"That's how Caitlin should be responding to all these things. It's what Angel Reese said when Alyssa Thomas knocked her down, 'They're not gonna take it easy on me. I'm a rookie. They're supposed to do that,'" Miller said on Mark Jackson's show.
Miller added a surprising piece of advice; he'd like to see Clark slap somebody when they get too physical with her.
"What I would love Caitlin to do is just get up one time and slap the s**t out of them," Miller said.
The Indiana Fever and Clark have struggled to compete against physical teams, and when teams get complex, the players don't seem to know how to react. Former NBA champion Matt Barnes called the team out for leaving Caitlin Clark alone after Chennedy Carter pushed her in the back, showing that the Fever are missing somebody who can set the tone when such incidents happen.
Reggie Miller believes Caitlin Clark, Fever should find an enforcer
When Mark Jackson suggested that the Fever should add an enforcer to take care of these situations, Miller agreed but also said that sometimes the top players need to send a message to their opponents.
"Yeah, 'cause I believe the Fever do not have an enforcer on their squad. But, sometimes it gotta come from the top. And sometimes, if you're Caitlin, maybe not get up and slap, but she can go down there and get someone [to push opponents]," the Pacers legend added.
Draymond Green had the same advice for Indiana in the wake of the Clark-Carter situation, but it remains unclear if the team's front office is hearing all the comments.
Caitlin Clark has drawn a lot of attention from opponents, who sometimes take things a little too far. The Fever are still a team in rebuild but it seems like an enforcer will be necessary in the future.
