Basketball fans effusively reacted to Caitlin Clark's exploits in setting another record in the WNBA and NBA. The Indiana Fever star posted another unique stat line.
Clark has slowly taken over women's basketball with her skills and the fans are in awe of what she's been able to do. The Fever rookie is setting a new standard with her style of play.
Despite the Fever's loss against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday, the rookie posted a historic stat line. The former Iowa guard finished the game with 29 points, 13 assists, five rebounds, five steals and three blocks. She also made five three-pointers during the game.
According to the history books, Clark is the first player in both leagues to finish a game with such a stat line. What she did against the Mystics has now set her apart from the rest of the league.
After discovering her unique stat line, fans started sharing their thoughts on Clark's achievement. Here are some of what the fans had to say about the WNBA's emerging superstar. One admirer thinks Clark is all set to win the Rookie of the Year award.
"ROTY it’s not even a competition she’s in a league of her own," one fan said.
"Let’s be clear — she’s really, really good!" another fan shared how impressed they've been of her.
"She is the goat in this business. And anyone who doesn't want to see it is because they don't like good basketball," one fan shared.
However, even with her success, few fans aren't in full support of her.
"A made up record," one fan said rather disdainfully.
"She lost to the Mystics," another fan pointed out the obvious.
"THESE ARE RANDOMLY PICKED NUMBERS WE ARE CELEBRATING!!!?!?" one fan pointed out.
Caitlin Clark's teammate on how the WNBA is treating her
Caitlin Clark is the center of attention in the WNBA as opposition players are focused on attempting to stop her from dominating.
They've seen her play in college and are aware of what she can do on the hardwood. In her first season at the professional level, teams are careful in defending her, making sure she doesn't get much space to score.
Clark's teammate, Erica Wheeler, was surprised with how opposing teams have played her defensively.
"Nobody plays me how they play her. It's a unique situation because, literally, they trap her at halfcourt. I've never had that," Wheeler said.
Despite the defense used by other teams, Clark has been able to effectively play her brand of basketball. No wonder she seems on her way to winning the Rookie of the Year award.
