New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu had a new celebration after her teammate, Breanna Stewart, hit a 3-pointer on their return to the WNBA stage after clinching gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ionescu struck Turkish Olympic silver-medalist shooter Yusuf Dikec's iconic pose after Stewart hit from deep during the Liberty's matchup against the LA Sparks on Thursday.
Dikec's pose went viral after he secured the silver medal in the 10-meter air pistol team event of the Paris Games without the use of special gear while his opponents used special lenses and ear protectors. With one hand in his pants pocket, Dikec catapulted himself into internet fandom by making the feat of clinching an Olympic silver look easy.
Breanna Stewart had a commendable return to the WNBA stage as she led the Liberty to a 103-68 blowout win over the Sparks to kickstart the second half of their 2024 WNBA season. She recorded 27 points, four rebounds and two assists in the game, while Sabrina Ionescu added 18 points, four rebounds, six assists and one steal.
