While the Chicago Sky may still be looking to use the No. 3 pick in the WNBA draft as leverage for a trade that will land Angel Reese a talented co-star, it won't be Satou Sabally. The former Dallas Wings standout is looking for a new home ahead of next season, but that destination is unlikely to be Chicago, according to the Chicago Sun Times' Annie Costabile,
On Thursday, Sabally told media members during a presser that she had played her last game in Dallas. Whether that means she hits free agency and signs with another team or the Wings give her a core player designation and find a participant for a sign-and-trade, Sabally's time in Dallas has come to an end.
This opened up the floodgates as fans began to theorize where Sabally may land. According to a new report from Costabile, while some teams are interested in her, Chicago isn't one of them.
"The only thing left to consider is where she will end up," Costabile wrote on Friday. "The Sky have no shot of landing Sabally, according to multiple league sources."
According to Costabile, the Indiana Fever and the New York Liberty have a chance of landing Sabally; however, if the Liberty want to unite the Sabally sisters, they'll have to clear up some cap space, which indicates a potential sign-and-trade.
Satou Sabally and Sabrina Ionescu's upcoming season in the Unrivaled league could lead to reunion in the WNBA
Ahead of the start of Unrivaled's inaugural season on Jan. 17, former college teammates Satou Sabally and Sabrina Ionescu have joined forces on Phantom BC.
Along with Marina Mabrey, Katie Lou Samuelson, Brittney Griner and Natasha Cloud, the two former Oregon Ducks will look to win the league's inaugural title.
During Thursday's media availability, Sabally spoke about playing alongside Ionescu again and shared that they used to talk about playing together in the WNBA while in college.
“It’s amazing," Sabally said. "She’s a great person, and what we’ve always respected of each other is that work ethic, and I know she’s going to bring that in.”
With Sabally's sister, Nyara, and Ionescu both playing for the New York Liberty, the team may likely be the favorites to land Satou.
Given that the two former college teammates will spend the Unrivaled season playing together, a sign-and-trade to New York could be in the cards.
