Satou Sabally, who is currently out of action for the Dallas Wings this season, is one of the most sought-after faces in the league when it comes to fashion. On Friday, Sabally posted a behind-the-scenes video for the German Schön! magazine photoshoot.
The German WNBA player posed in animated faces for her photoshoot for the magazine. Sabally donned a full-length, fading blue-slip dress. One of the stylists for the magazine, Olive Duran, also posted a picture of Sabally on her Instagram story in a dark-brown hooded gown.
Sabally was voted by GQ magazine as the “Most Stylish WNBA Player” last year.
Though she is recovering, she was one of the biggest factors in the Wings' impressive season last year. After a long gap, the Wings finished fourth in the league and made it to the playoffs. However, the team exited after their loss against the Las Vegas Aces in the second round.
Last season, she averaged 18.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. She was also impressive on the defensive end, averaging 1.8 steals per game. She was later named the Most Improved Player for the 2023 season.
Why is Satou Sabally not playing in the WNBA?
Satou Sabally is recovering from shoulder surgery, which she underwent after her injury in February. She was playing for Germany in a FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Brazil. Although Sabally is in the last stage of her recovery, she is not returning anytime soon.
As per the latest update by her coach, the Wings forward is on her way to making a full recovery. However, coach Latricia Trammell also added that Sabally will be back with the team only after the Olympic break.
The Paris Olympics break will start on July 18 and end on August 11. Before the break, the Wings will play a total of 25 games and will play the rest of the 15 games after the break. This means Satou Sabally is expected to play some of the most crucial games for the team before they potentially head into the postseason.
Sabally also said that she is making a recovery and expects to represent her country in the Paris Olympics.
"I prepare myself daily for it because I genuinely need to work out hard so everything falls into place, so I can play as part of a team," she said. "I'm making an effort to focus solely on my training. Competing in the Olympics is a fantasy that will become a reality and it's truly a great honor to put on the German jersey."
Satou Sabally has dealt with multiple types of injuries in her career since she was selected by the Wings in 2020 and managed to play only 44 games in the first three seasons of her career. During that time, she dealt with injuries related to her ankles, Achilles and knees.
