Scottie Pippen’s daughter Sierra Pippen plays professional volleyball. She has passionately played the sport since she was young. The younger Pippen was named the Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year last year.
Pippen was good enough in volleyball that even Team USA called her in 2019. She was selected to play in the U19 NORCECA championship where the Americans won the gold medal. The University of Texas star excelled because of her efficient strikes, athleticism and IQ.
The vollyeball star, though, might be looking at another sport where she can show her stuff. She shared this on Instagram and captioned it with:
“Ok I’m ready @chicagosky”
The longing to play for the Chicago Sky is quite obvious. Pippen is a Chicago native who was born when the Chicago Bulls were about to start their second three-peat. While it is unsure if she rooted for the Bulls in the ‘90s, it’s certain she is a big fan of the Sky.
The arrival of Angel Reese in Chicago has also made the Sky more popular than ever. Wintrust Arena is usually jam-packed when the “Chi Barbie” is around to play home games. Sierra Pippen is likely aware of who Reese has brought to the WNBA and women's basketball.
In the clip, Pippen hit what looked like a half-court shot with minimum effort. She had to be holding the phone while shooting the ball. The volleyball star hit nothing but the net, prompting her to make the “Chicago Sky” comment.
Scottie Pippen once denied he is the father of Sierra Pippen
When Sierra Pippen was born on Feb. 17, 1995, Scottie Pippen was still in the prime of his career in the NBA. The basketball star had to carry the Chicago Bulls for most of the 1994-95 season before Michael Jordan returned from playing baseball.
The Bulls forward, however, had some off-court issues. He denied fathering a daughter with former girlfriend Yvette Deleone, per an AP report. The refusal to take responsibility for the child forced Deleone to file a paternity suit.
The Bulls legend and Deleone eventually settled the case. Pippen reportedly agreed to provide child support and education. The then-three-time NBA champ also pledged to shoulder insurance and medical expenses.
Sierra Pippen spent most of her life out of the spotlight until she turned heads due to her volleyball exploits. She will be in the headlines if she does try basketball and hopes to play for the Chicago Sky.
