Kate Martin of the Las Vegas Aces suffered a lower leg injury on Tuesday night against the Chicago Sky. WNBA fans are fearing the worst for the 24-year-old rookie guard, who appeared to go down with a non-contact injury late in the first quarter.

In the video below, Martin was bringing the ball down against Dana Evans when she fell with a non-contact injury on her lower left leg. She immediately grabbed her left ankle as she screamed in pain before her teammates went to check on her.

The entire Aces team was very concerned with their rookie guard so much so that they began surrounding her to give her some privacy. She was checked by the team's medical personnel and was able to get back to her feet before going back to the locker room.

WNBA fans were shocked to see Kate Martin go down with an injury and many asked for prayers that nothing serious happened. However, others were convinced that any non-contact injuries are more than likely a bad one such as a torn Achilles tendon.

"That's that Achilles mane praying for a speedy recovery. We've seen that non contact fall all too often," one fan wrote.
"When are we getting an update because I'm crashing out?" a fan asked.
"That looks like a Hyper extended knee injury. Fortunately the break enables her to recover 1000 percent," another fan replied.

Others praised the Las Vegas Aces players for surrounding Kate Martin when she was getting checked by the medical team. The defending back-to-back WNBA champions welcomed the rookie with open arms when they selected her in the second round.

"Oh, man. Shudder — feel horrible for her. Thankful she has amazing teammates who have her back. Hoping it’s not an Achilles. She's been amazing to watch since Iowa," one fan commented.
"There is no I in team - best displayed here," a fan opined.
"It is so heart warming how much they love her," another fan remarked.

Kate Martin returns to the bench in the second quarter, ruled out for the game

The Las Vegas Aces ruled Kate Martin out for the rest of the game with a lower left leg injury. The Aces didn't specify what kind of injury Martin suffered but the All-Star and Olympic break is about to start. That means she'll have plenty of time to recover given that she only suffered a minor injury.

Martin returned to the bench in the second quarter and was wearing sweatpants. She also helped the team during their shootaround before the third quarter, which can be considered great news by the Aces' fanbase.

Nevertheless, the Aces will likely take her to undergo more tests to determine the injury she suffered and how long before she's ready to return.
