Kelsey Plum lauds Courtney Williams after Lynx guard outplays her in comprehensive win

Kelsey Plum kept it real when asked about Courtney Williams' performance against the Las Vegas Aces. Williams torched the side with a 22-point double-double that included 10 assists as the Minnesota Lynx registered a 98-87 win at the Michelob Ultra Arena on Wednesday (Aug. 21). Plum acknowledged that she had no answer for the Lynx guard, who got the better of her.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the loss, the Aces' second in three games, Plum didn't mince words.

"She cooked me... There's really not much to say. She had it tonight, and when you get your ass kicked, you gotta give the other people credit."

Williams was in her element on Wednesday as she consistently breezed past Plum's defense. Both guards went toe-to-toe throughout the contest, and it was the Lynx star that won the matchup.

Plum went 9-16 from the field and 2-7 from downtown to end with 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Jackie Young led Las Vegas with a game-high 26 points coupled with six rebounds, and four assists. A'ja Wilson had 15 points and nine rebounds.

Kelsey Plum calls out officiating after Aces loss: "I don't feel it's consistent"

Kelsey Plum's views on the game also focused on the officiating. The same press conference saw her call out the referees, and the guard added that she would probably get fined for her comments.

"It felt nasty tonight. It's so interesting to me like it's just... I'm probably going to get fined but it's just hard because I don't feel [the officiating] is consistent. I don't feel it's consistent the way they call the games, and you know what, they made us pay."

A look at the numbers shows the Aces had two fouls called more than their opponents. The decisions, especially in the third quarter, resulted in the Lynx making two trips to the charity stripe. However, it's worth noting that Minnesota beat the Aces on FT percentage as well, making 11 of their 14 shots, while the hosts made eight of their 12.

Kelsey Plum's comments may earn her a fine. At the time of writing, there are no updates on the matter, but the Aces on the whole have struggled since the return of the edition. Up next, they play the Lynx again in their backyard on Friday (Aug.23). Safe to say, a payback game is on the cards.
