WNBA prospect JuJu Watkins is ironing her skills this offseason, linking up with a couple of NBA stars this week. The USC star guard shared a picture with Dallas Mavericks star guard Kyrie Irving and former LA Lakers coach Phil Handy. She also paid homage to Kobe Bryant on what would have been his 46th birthday.
"Bean Day = work day! #theworkisreal #mambaforever," Watkins captioned the post.
Watkins was initially spotted with Sacramento Kings star forward DeMar DeRozan at his alma mater, USC. Watkins, the star guard, got the chance to work out with one of the most prolific scorers of this generation before joining forces with one of the best point guards in the NBA.
WNBA fans showed their excitement about Watkins' recent workout. Some predicted that by combining what she can learn from DeRozan and Irving, she can reach new heights next season.
"Saw she was in the lab with Demar too, if she incorporate his mid range, with Kyrie handles and finishing she gonna be female Jordan," one fan wrote.
"Juju with demar’s killer midrange and kyrie’s wizardry handles and finishes. My oh my😍," another fan chimed in.
More fans said that Watkins will be hard to stop once she returns to the court.
"Ju gone be a even bigger problem this season!!!!" another fan said.
"Juju gonna be tough," another fan wrote.
Another fan took a jab at DeRozan, claiming that Watkins called Irving after watching the Kings' forward 'bricking shots'.
JuJu Watkins is coming off a season where she averaged 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per outing in 34 games. If she keeps working with players who can maximize her potential, the sky is the limit.
JuJu Watkins could take USC Trojans to a championship run next season
JuJu Watkins had a terrific debut in the NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament last season. The guard led the USC Trojans to the Elite Eight, sharing the spotlight with other stars like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, Hailey Van Lith and Paige Bueckers, among others.
Watkins is considered one of the best prospects in women's basketball and she's making sure to unlock her potential by working with high-profile NBA players.
Kiki Iriafen and Talia van Oelhoffen joined USC via the transfer portal, bolstering the Trojans' ranks and making them serious title candidates in the upcoming season. If JuJu Watkins really steps up to the challenge and combines well with these players, USC might be on its way to a national title.
