Even NBA legend Isiah Thomas has been in awe of what Caitlin Clark has done in her first rookie season with the Indiana Fever. During his guest appearance on "Don't @ Me with Dan Dakich," the Detroit Pistons great discussed how Clark's selflessness has transformed her into a potent offensive weapon.
While Clark came into the league known for her shooting and scoring, Thomas has also been impressed by how well she gets her teammates involved.
"She's got it. She's got what they call, the 'IT' factor," Thomas said. "Some people got it and some people don't. She also has game, she got real game. When she came out of college, everybody was talking about, 'Oh, she is going to be a great scorer, and she is going to shoot the basketball and going to shoot the lights out.' And then she unveiled 'Oh I can drop dimes, too. Oh, I can pass, too.'"
"What we're seeing now, we're seeing the complete offensive player come in to play. Because she came in and everyone was saying, 'Okay we gotta take away the three.' And then they found out, 'Okay, she's unselfish.' Everytime we put to on the ball, she passes behind the track and now we have four against three."
Caitlin Clark's passing game has been a topic of discussion lately. As the WNBA nears its conclusion, Clark leads the assists category by a wide margin with 306. No one in the league has recorded close to 300, as Alyssa Thomas trails the former Iowa star with 282.

NBA legend thinks Caitlin Clark isn't that great yet
Caitlin Clark has taken over the WNBA While it took her a while to get adjusted, she's already showing signs of greatness in her game. Fans have raved about how great of a player she is already, despite being only a rookie.
However, NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal believes that Clark isn't that great a player just yet. He cited current stars as the standard for the Fever rookie.
"You still gotta earn it. Chuck had to go through that, I had to go through that, so I understand what everybody’s doing. Yeah you’re great, but you ain’t that great yet. Calm down. We still got Diana Taurasi, we still got A’ja Wilson, if you’re gonna give (Caitlin) props make sure our girls that are dominating in this league get the same props," Shaq said.
While Clark has performed well this season, O'Neal believes that the No. 1 pick of the 2024 draft still has to earn the status of being "great."
