Caitlin Clark sets All-Star rookie record
Caitlin Clark took advantage of the talent around her in the Team WNBA. She set a new rookie assist record in their win versus Team USA, 117-109, in the All-Star game.
Clark was the main facilitator for Team WNBA, tallying 10 assists along with four points and two steals. Clark orchestrated the offense for most of the way, sharing the ball with almost everyone on the team, including fierce rival and fellow rookie Angel Reese, who made a layup off a pass from Clark in the fourth quarter.
The Fever rookie also played a factor in Arike Ogunbowale’s record-breaking performance. The Dallas Wings star recorded 34 points to set a new All-Star game scoring record despite being scoreless in the first half.
Team WNBA controlled the tempo of the game, outclassing Team USA for most of the way, before the national team put up a comeback that fell short.
