While Caitlin Clark is renowned for her exceptional long-range shooting, her Indiana Fever teammate Aliyah Boston is working hard to improve her own 3-point shot during the offseason, aiming to enhance a skill that Clark has already mastered.
A video that surfaced on social media Friday showed Aliyah Boston honing her 3-point shooting, an area she’s been consistently working to improve since the conclusion of her season.
Indiana Fever fans were thrilled to see their star center expanding her skill set, with the added dimension expected to be a valuable asset for the Eastern Conference team next season.
"Love to see it. Especially because Fever need to get into more catch-and-shoot motions. They were rarely seen this season," a fan said.
"Aliyah missed her last 9 trey attempts of the season, so this is a good move because she certainly has the stroke to convert them at an efficient rate," wrote another.
One fan pointed out that if Boston becomes a consistent threat from beyond the arc, it will create more space on the floor for Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark to thrive.
"If AB is locked in for the 2025 it’s going to be a great season. This will definitely help spread the floor, leading to easy buckets for KM and CC."
A fan also observed that the Fever center appeared to be leaner compared to her physique during the season.
"She’s looking lean too."
A few fans opined that Boston should also focus on improving her post moves and mid-range jumpers in the offseason.
"Love to see it but she really needs to practice shooting a 10-15 ft jumper after she slips a screen. Idk how many times I saw both defenders go with CC and she slipped and got ball at free throw lime and instead of shooting it right away open she dribbled into traffic and missed," a fan wrote.
"That will be a key addition to her game. She needs to hone in on her post game as well, too many travels and missed opportunities underneath the basket," said another.
Aliyah Boston's 3-point shooting
Aliyah Boston struggled with her 3-point shooting during the 2024 regular season. The former Rookie of the Year took a limited number of attempts from beyond the arc, shooting just 26.9%. Over 40 games, she attempted 26 shots from deep, making only seven.
During her rookie season, Boston posted an impressive 40% shooting from beyond the arc, but the sample size was quite small. She attempted just 10 three-pointers, successfully making four.
