"She whines way too much" - Jason Whitlock equates Caitlin Clark to LeBron James for all the wrong reasons

Jason Whitlock has been following Caitlin Clark’s exploits in the WNBA. The veteran sports journalist tweeted earlier in the season that he “loves” the Indiana Fever rookie's play. He did, however, point out Clark’s “careless turnovers” as an issue that the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft had to correct.

Whitlock’s comments about Clark have changed since late May. He has been highly critical about the guard’s 'whining' against non-calls and sometimes lack of effort on the defensive end. Following Indiana’s thrilling 110-109 victory against the Dallas Wings on Sunday, the former football player wrote on X, formerly Twitter:

“It's official. Caitlin Clark is LeBron James. She just laid a defender out with a Derrick Henry stiff-arm and the refs didn't even consider blowing a whistle. Plus she whines way too much. I can't take it. Too entitled. She hooked me on the Fever. Kelsey Mitchell is my fav player”

The play Whitlock referred to happened in the third quarter when Clark tried to drive past Wings guard Jacy Sheldon. The rookie sensation seemed to use her elbow to push Sheldon off. The non-call allowed the Fever to score following Clark's assist to NaLyssa Smith.

Whitlock’s complaint about Clark’s 'whining' isn’t something new. He has been harping on this issue for months now. The podcaster has claimed on multiple occasions how her 'complaining' often allows Fever opponents to score on the other end.

Now, the sportscaster is putting Caitlin Clark on the same level as LeBron James when it comes to complaining. Jason Whitlock has been calling out the LA Lakers superstar for several issues, including referee blaming.

Caitlin Clark avoided a technical foul and an automatic one-game suspension

Leading into the game against the Dallas Wings, Caitlin Clark has already accumulated six technical fouls. She was one infraction away from getting a one-game suspension.

Had Clark been given a technical foul, she would have missed Thursday’s game against the Washington Mystics. Here’s what she had to say to reporters about the risk of getting suspended for the Washington game:

“Well, I didn’t think they were gonna give me a technical at any point tonight. I would’ve been really sad for people in Washington DC (next game Thursday).”

The Mystics are desperate to win their last two home games for a shot to make the playoffs. After facing the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday, they host Caitlin Clark and the Fever on Thursday. Both games are expected to be sold out, so it would be a damper if Clark had been suspended.
