Former WNBA player Sheryl Swoopes got mocked online for going silent when her co-analyst complimented Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark for winning the Player of the Week honor. Clark Report, a pro-Caitin Clark fan page on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted the video of the incident.
The video featured a segment from the Las Vegas Aces vs. Dallas Wings game on Tuesday, during which Swoopes' co-analyst praised Clark after the Indiana Fever rookie's and Napheesa Collier's season stats were displayed on the screen. The former WNBA player went silent for the entire time her co-analyst spoke. She refrained from offering any input or her opinion on the matter.
This did not sit well with the WNBA fans who flooded the comments section mocking the former baller for her silence. One fan made a sarcastic comment:
"She didn’t go silent she went to go throw up after seeing CC won POTW."
Other fans joined the fray sharing similar sentiments in the comments:
"Swoopes is classless. I don’t get the hate she spews for CC. She’s has really tarnished her legacy by being such a jealous bigot. Grow up Sheryl," @7755468Ma said.
"Hating on somebody half your age for no reason is weirdo old head behavior," @jimmy_harrity said.
"Could she not say anything about that? Not even a lie? I’m kinda disappointed now," @NiteShorts said.
Some others pointed out that Swoopes' co-analyst waited for her to give some input; however, after noticing her silence, he went on with his praise.
"Evidently her play by play guy didn't get the memo... He paused fully expecting her to chime in with something and she wasn't gonna....," @GPinTN1 said.
"Lmaoooo she gon have to be bitter for the next decade, CC only getting started," @nevervaporeon said.
Swoopes made headlines after she left out Clark while discussing the incredible comeback of the Indiana Fever after the international break. ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith criticized her for her takes, but she clapped back at him.
Sheryl Swoopes gets back at Stephen A. Smith for calling her 'insane' for Caitlin Clark bias
Sheryl Swoopes got back at ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith for calling her "insane" for expressing her opinion and leaving out Caitlin Clark while discussing the Indiana Fever. She tweeted out her response to Smith's comments:
"You talk about whomever and whatever you want to on your podcast. Correct? So why can't I? Also, did you listen to the ENTIRE episode? NOPE! I have a personal relationship with these players and they deserve recognition as well."
Swoopes has made a few more comments criticizing Smith and his analysis of players. However, Smith hasn't responded to Swoopes' criticism.
