Heading into 2025, women's basketball icon Sheryl Swoopes was left feeling grateful for everything that 2024 had to offer. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the four-time WNBA champion and 1993 Naismith College Player of the Year gave fans a glimpse at the past year from her perspective.
Swoopes included selfies as well as family photos, showing her son Jordan winning the G League's dunk contest while wearing his mom's jersey. Swoopes also included a photo with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and another with legendary hip-hop artist Common.
Along with the carousel of images and videos showing her fun-filled 2024, Swoopes wrote:
"Grateful for everything 2024 brought. Recap Pt. 1."
Sheryl Swoopes then followed with another post recapping 2024, showcasing a number of memorable moments from throughout the year.
The carousel starts with Swoopes and a young fan holding a sign indicating he was attending his first WNBA game before then showing photos with Angel Reese, the Jabbawockeez dance group and plenty of others.
It also notably included a photo of Swoopes teaching the next generation of hoopers the finer points of the game at an NBA Africa camp.
Looking back at Sheryl Swoopes' proud mom moment from 2024 as her son Jordan won the NBA G League dunk contest
Earlier this year, WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes celebrated a proud mom moment as her son, Jordan Jackson, who was named after NBA legend Michael Jordan, won the G League dunk contest.
Back in the '90s, Swoopes asked Michael Jordan, who had invited her to his camp after she won the 1993 NCAA championship with Texas Tech, whether she could name her son after him. Jordan said that she could so long as he had a good jump shot. In response, Sheryl Swoopes told MJ that her son would have a better shot than him.
Now, Jordan Jackson, Swoopes' son, is playing in the G League. In February, while playing with the Boston Celtics' affiliate, Jordan won the league's dunk contest while wearing his mom's jersey.
On social media, Swoopes reacted to the win:
"Comets 4 Life!!! My son wore it well! And ... he won it yall!"
With her son looking to make the jump to the NBA full-time, and plenty more to celebrate in her personal life, 2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Swoopes.
