WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes was at the building attending the game between the Dallas Wings and the LA Sparks. Representing the Sparks against the Wings, Rickea Jackson showed up trying to keep her team in the game. Despite the loss, Jackson impressed Swoopes.
Blown away by her potential, the Basketball Hall Of Famer took to her social media page to praise the Sparks rookie. The four-time WNBA champion also gave a cheeky suggestion to Jackson if the WNBA didn't work out.
"[Rickea Jackson] helluva game today young lady! It was truly a pleasure to watch you play in person. So excited for what the future holds for you. You are going to be a problem in this league. BTW... if hooping don't work out, you most definitely should be a model. Stunning!"
Jackson left Sheryl Swoopes impressed with her exploits on both ends of the floor. As great as Jackson was on the offensive end, leading her team in points, she was also dominant on the defensive end.
In 37 minutes on the floor, Jackson scored 25 points on 60% shooting from the floor and 75% shooting from the three-point line. She also had 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks in the game.
Sheryl Swoopes promises to meet Rickea Jackson's mother
Rickea Jackson's mother was also in the building attending her daughter's game. Unfortunately, she didn't know that legend Sheryl Swoopes was also attending the game. Jackson's mother apparently found this out through Swoopes' post on X.
After Swoopes praised Jackson on X, Rickea's mother thanked the WNBA legend for showing love to her daughter. She also expressed her desire to meet Swoopes.
In reply, Sheryl Swoopes also wrote on X that she hoped to meet her in the near future.
"Ahhh man! So hate I missed you. I will catch another game and hopefully will see you then. You are so welcome! Love her and her game❤️❤️,!" Sheryl Swoopes wrote.
The LA Sparks have the worst record in the league. After Cameron Brink's injury, the Sparks took a big defensive hit with their best shot blocker out for the season.
Currently, the Sparks hold a 6-24 record and faced the second-worst team in the league in their last game. The Wings are the 11th seed with a 7-22 record.
This season, Jackson has been excellent for the Sparks and one of the best rookies in the league. She has played all 30 games for the Sparks this season. She averages 12.4 points on 46.8% shooting from the floor and 35.7% from the 3-point line.
She is also averaging 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Despite the Sparks' struggles this season, Jackson has shown great promise, which should be good news for the franchise.
