Skip Bayless, host of "The Undisputed" reacted to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark after the rookie delivered a spectacular performance against the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday. Bayless made a post on X, formerly Twitter, calling the Fever rookie the best number 22 since NFL Icon Emmitt Smith.
"Caitlin Clark is the best 22 since Emmitt Smith," Bayless tweeted.
Smith is a three-time Super Bowl champion and is widely regarded as the best player to dawn the number 22 jersey. Bayless' comments honored the Fever rookie she wears the same numbered jersey.
The Indiana Fever faced off against the Los Angeles Sparks at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Fever were quick to assert dominance at home and they ended the first quarter with a four-point lead against their opponents.
The Sparks turned up their game in the second quarter taking back the control and managing to level the game and demolish the small lead at the end of the quarter. However, the Fever did not allow the Spark to repeat their second-quarter feat after halftime as they went on a 17-22 run in the third quarter and finished the game with a final score of 86-93.
Caitlin Clark stepped up, scoring a triple-double and becoming the only rookie to score multiple triple-doubles in her rookie season. She netted 24 points, collected 10 rebounds and dished out 10 assists to help her team secure victory against the Sparks.
Skip Bayless 'Got the Fever' after witnessing Caitlin Clark at work
The Indiana Fever shocked the Connecticut Sun fans when they defeated their team 84-80 last week. After the game, the 'Undisputed' host Skip Bayless took to X expressing his views on the game and giving the Fever rookie Caitlin Clark a new nickname.
"Caitlin went 1-4 in 4th but the one - driving righty layup w/o DCarrington on her - was the go-ahead bucket. What a strong win. 9 of 10 at home. Broke 11-game losing streak to Sun. Caitlin the Catalyst. I got the Fever," Bayless wrote.
The Fever rookie scored 19 points, collected five rebounds and provided five assists helping her team pick up the win against the second-seeded WNBA team and breaking their three-game losing streak against the Sun.
Clark has transformed the Indiana Fever from a bottom-table team to a playoff contender since her arrival as the Fever clinched a spot in the playoffs for the first time in eight years.
