For the upcoming episode of Angel Reese's "Unapologetically Angel" podcast, the Chicago Sky forward will be chopping it up with one of the most decorated point guards of the past decade. While Reese had a lengthy resume at the conclusion of her LSU stint, Skylar Diggins-Smith has already filled up her trophy case with accolades from both the collegiate and pro levels.
Reese is well aware of Diggins-Smith's accomplishments, which is why she paid the Seattle Storm playmaker a compliment when she posted an Instagram story on Sunday after they taped their podcast episode:
"She walked so I could run," wrote Reese in her caption. "2 Baddies, 2 Dawgs."
Diggins-Smith shared this story to her Instagram count and replied:
"Had such a good time!"
Drafted by the Tulsa Shock in 2013, after four years at Notre Dame, Diggins-Smith has proven to be a force to be reckoned with on and off the court. Aside from picking up six All-Star selections and four All-WNBA First Team nods, the 33-year-old has made waves as a versatile businesswoman and brand endorser. Her affiliations include Puma, Nickelodeon, and Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports.
In August 2024, Angel Reese — who was in the midst of her rookie season in the WNBA — paid tribute to Diggins-Smith's impact.
"One of them ones that laid the ground for me to walk on when it comes to this beauty side in sports & marketing yourself off the court! Always love you Sky!" Reese wrote.
Angel Reese set to spread her wings in Unrivaled
Reese and Diggins-Smith won't have to wait till the 2025 WNBA season to cross paths once more. Both women are taking part in the inaugural season of Unrivaled, the full-court 3x3 league that tips off later this week on Friday.
During a promotional shoot for Unrivaled, Reese showcased her talent as a model when she pulled off an impeccable ramp walk and posed in front of the cameras. Moments before she did this, she was giving the director an earful:
"I need a better walk than that," Reese said after the director failed to meet her standards for a ramp walk.
The director then made another attempt before the Rose BC forward had to show him how it was done. This type of competitive energy behind the scenes is just the tip of the iceberg, as Reese, Diggins-Smith, and the rest of the Unrivaled roster duke it out soon.
