Cameron Brink, who was already quite popular when she starred for Stanford in college, has become even more sought after in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are the biggest headliners of this year’s rookie class, but Brink is also steadily making a name for herself in pro basketball. Playing for the LA Sparks has only allowed her fan base to steadily grow.
Besides having a solid first year of basketball, Brink is also turning heads with her off-court style. The forward’s entrances, regardless of where the Sparks are playing, have become highly anticipated spectacles. Many are predicting that she will only become an even bigger star in the future.
Cameron Brink signed an NIL deal with New Balance (NB) when she was still with Stanford. She has already appeared in commercials with some of the brand's top endorsers. It may not be long before the company offers her a shoe deal.
An Instagram user named sneakernerdofl recently made a signature shoe concept for the rookie. The designer called it the “Brink 1” and explained that it takes its roots from NB's “past basketball sneakers” and the 550.
Fans who saw the design promptly reacted:
“So lady Kobes? These tough”
One fan claimed:
“That design is so booty bro.”
Another had a one-word reaction:
“TUFFFFFF”
A third gave suggestions on how the tech in the shoe could be improved:
“She should have fresh foam and they should be mid-cuts. The logo is fire. Def fits her.”
The concept shoe has a little similarity with the high-cut Kobe 10 but Nike’s Flyknit upper is just too unique to imitate. The 2015 or 2016 HyperDunks are much better comparisons for the “Brinks” than the Kobes.
Cameron Brink wore Jack Harlow's New Balance 1906R for a ceremonial pitch in a Dodgers game
A shoe deal between New Balance and Cameron Brink may arrive soon. She already shares the same city as NBA superstar and NB endorser Kawhi Leonard. "The Claw" and the former Stanford star could be the brand's marquee representatives in the NBA and WNBA.
Before the 2024 season started, New Balance outfitted her with an unreleased Jack Harlow collaboration. Harlow's 1906R, which will not be available until fall this year, was on Brink's foot when she visited Dodger Stadium. She had the shoes on when she threw the ceremonial pitch.
The design presented by the fan on Instagram looked sleek and comfortable. Perhaps NB could come up with something even more enticing that will be named after Cameron Brink.
