Steph Curry and Vanessa Bryant hilariously reacted to Sabrina Ionescu's viral video of getting a cramp while posing with the WNBA championship. Ionescu was getting her pictures taken with the trophy when she suddenly suffered a bout of cramps and had to be helped by people nearby.
In an Instagram video by the WNBA, Ionescu was on cloud nine when she started cramping. She began pounding on her left leg before someone massaged it to relieve the pain. One of her teammates even poured champagne on her mouth, although it might not be best to cure a symptom of dehydration.
New York Liberty coach Sandy Brondello joined in on the fun by jokingly performing CPR on his star guard.
Steph Curry, who has a special bond with the player and faced off against her in a 3-point shootout during the NBA All-Star weekend earlier this year, reshared the video on his Instagram stories. Vanessa, the wife of the late Kobe Bryant, also did the same thing.
The Golden State Warriors star added a bunch of laughing emojis, while Vanessa called Ionescu by her nickname, "Beana-Beana."
The Liberty star was close to the Bryant family even before she joined the WNBA and was still a prospect for the Oregon Ducks. She has formed a bond with the LA Lakers superstar's daughters.
Here are the screenshots of the reactions from Curry and Vanessa:
Sabrina Ionescu had an abysmal performance in Game 5, shooting 1-for-19, including 1-for-10 from beyond the arc. Ionescu finished the game with five points, seven rebounds, eight assists and two steals. It was enough to help the New York Liberty win their first-ever WNBA championship.
The Liberty would have not been in a position to win the title if not for Ionescu's heroics in Game 3, though. With the game tied at 77, Ionescu hit the game-winning 3-point shot to complete the come-from-behind win.
Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart join elite company after WNBA championship win
The New York Liberty capped off their amazing regular season by winning their first-ever WNBA championship. The Liberty outlasted the Minnesota Lynx in five games to make history.
Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart also made history as the first teammates to win a WNBA title and an Olympic gold medal in the same season. They also joined legendary players Sheryl Swoopes, Sue Bird, Katie Smith and Tamika Catchings, who achieved the feat in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012, respectively.
Ionescu is just starting to build her resume, while Stewart, who is now a three-time champion and two-time MVP, is already one of the most accomplished players in WNBA history at the age of 30.
