"Stockton merged with Curry to Malone" - Fever fans excited by Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston's connection after 3 wins in a row

WNBA: Preseason-Indiana Fever at Dallas Wings
Basketball fans react to Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark's performances on Wednesday against the Washington Mystics.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever had the second-worst record in the WNBA after a 104-68 beatdown at the hands of the New York Liberty. Indiana fell to its ninth loss in 11 games before it went into a five-day break. The critics relentlessly blasted Clark for the Fever’s win-loss slate.

Since returning to action, Clark and his teammates are 4-1, with their only loss coming against the league-leading 13-1 Connecticut Sun. The Fever is in the midst of a season-high three-game winning streak after another victory versus the Washington Mystics. Clark and Aliyah Boston carried the team to improve its record to 6-10.

Basketball fans reacted to the Fever’s latest win behind their dynamic duo:

“Stockton merged with Curry to Malone!”

One fan sees what the future could hold for the Fever:

“And we not even close to how lethal we will be”

Another fan shared the same sentiment:

“This is going to be fun to watch for years!”

A third supporter had another comparison for the two Fever stars:

“It took Magic to Worthy to get the NBA going, let it roll”

Aliyah Boston had 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting and dominated the paint. She also had eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Washington had all sorts of trouble trying to contain her.

Caitlin Clark ably ran the show for the Fever, finishing with her second career double-double with 18 points and a career-high 12 boards. Clark also handed out six assists and completed six steals. She is the first rookie to compile such numbers and win the game.

The reference to John Stockton and Karl Malone with a Steph Curry twist is obvious. “Stockton-to-Malone” was a phrase consistently heard during the Hall of Fame careers of the Utah Jazz legend. Curry had to be into the mix as unlike Stockton, he has the range that resembles Clark’s shooting.

Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston face their toughest challenge yet in the Fever’s next five games

Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston playing their best basketball together as a tandem could not have come at the right time. Indiana’s next five games will be on the road with showdowns that include the Chicago Sky, Seattle Storm, Phoenix Mercury and the Las Vegas Aces.

The road swing starts on Friday when they head to Atlanta to take on the Dream. In all five matches, the Fever will be underdogs. Not many will be surprised if they go 0-5 during that stretch.

To prevent a shutout, Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston will have to answer the bell. In arguably Indiana’s toughest stretch in the 2024 regular season, the two franchise cornerstones need to show their worth.
