Team USA vs Nigeria game recap
This played out like almost every other game for the U.S. women's team this summer. They established a big lead early and never gave their opponent a chance to get back in the game.
Similar to how she's been in the WNBA, A'ja Wilson was the standout in this quarterfinal matchup. She scored a game-high 20 points to go with 11 rebounds and two blocks. What stood out most from Wilson's performance was her efficiency from the field, converting nine of 11 shot attempts.
Team USA's other standout, Breanna Stewart, also performed well against Nigeria. She filled the stat sheet, posting 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks. The former MVP matched Wilson's efficiency, only missing two shots in this game.
Nigeria was led by Promise Amukamara and Amu Okonkwo. The duo combined for 36 of their team's 74 points, but couldn't match the firepower of the United States.
Team USA has punched its ticket to the semifinals, where it will take on Australia.
