Team WNBA outlasted Team USA 117-109 in the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game inside the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. It was a jam-packed arena with reports of around 18,000 tickets being sold out although there were some available on resale sites.

The game was close in the first quarter as both teams go back-and-forth with baskets. Team WNBA had a one-point lead heading into the second quarter but the Olympians turned it around to earn a two-point advantage after the first half.

However, Arike Ogunbowale caught fire in the third quarter to give Team WNBA a huge advantage. The Dallas Wings star broke the All-Star Game scoring record in the final period to hand Team USA the loss.

Breanna Stewart led the way for Team USA with a huge double-double in the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game. Stewart finished with 31 points and 10 rebounds, while A'ja Wilson had 22 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Brittney Griner scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench.

It was a tough game for the Olympians since they had trouble stopping Arike Ogunbowale. They also had a hard time containing Caitlin Clark's assists although they made a run late in the fourth quarter. They could have used Napheesa Collier, who played just three minutes since she's still nursing a foot injury.

What's next for Team WNBA and Team USA?

Arike Ogunbowale was named the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game MVP with her tantalizing performance in the second half to break the scoring record. It was her second WNBA All-Star Game MVP award, winning it in 2021 in the same Team USA vs. Team WNBA format.

Team USA will fly to London, England on Monday to continue their preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. They will face Germany in an exhibition game before going to France to start their campaign for another gold medal.

On the other hand, the rest of the WNBA will have about a month of rest as they prepare for the second half of the season. Games will resume on August 15 with three games on the schedule.
