WNBA superstar A'ja Wilson is slaying it not only on the basketball court but also in the popular card game UNO. And she made sure that her Team USA teammates and the world knew about it.
The two-time WNBA champion of the Las Vegas Aces took to her Instagram story to playfully brag about her defeating teammates Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, Chelsea Gray and Kahleah Copper while on a train ride at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
She captioned her post with:
"Crown Me! Tha Queen of @uno"

With Team USA, Wilson is joined by Aces teammates Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young and Gray, New York's Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu Minnesota's Napheesa Collier, Phoenix's Kahleah Cooper, Taurasi and Griner, Seattle's Jewell Loyd and Connecticut's Alyssa Thomas.
In the ongoing WNBA season, A'ja Wilson leads the league in both scoring and blocks with 27.2 points and 2.8 swats to go along with 11.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 34 minutes for Las Vegas (16-8).
A'ja Wilson leads Team USA to rout of Japan in Olympic opener
The U.S. women's national basketball team kicked off its bid for an eighth straight Olympic gold medal with a 102-76 rout of Japan in their Group C opening game at the 2024 Paris Games on July 30. A'ja Wilson showed the way in the win, finishing with a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds.
Japan tried to keep in step with the U.S. until late in the opening half. But once the Americans cranked things up after, they were not to be stopped en route to the dominant victory.
Breanna Stewart backstopped A'ja Wilson with 22 points and eight rebounds. Kelsey Plum, Sabrina Ionescu and Brittney Griner each had 11 points.
Veteran point guard Chelsea Gray, meanwhile, only had two points but had 13 assists.
For Japan, it was guard Maki Takada who top-scored with 24 points, followed by Mai Yamamoto with 17.
Following the game, Wilson spoke about their performance in the opener, highlighting the need for them to continue to dominate in the paint.
She said, by way of The Washington Post:
"Points in the paint and controlling the boards are going to be huge for us moving forward. So if we can continue that, I feel like we're in good shape."
Apart from the U.S. and Japan, also playing in Group C in the preliminary round are Germany and Belgium. The U.S. squad next plays on Aug. 2 against Belgium.
