Controversial Indiana reporter Gregg Doyel, who was in the news after facing scrutiny for his interaction with Caitlin Clark, is in the spotlight again. Doyel went viral on X over a "bitter" take on Ohio State football coach Ryan Day, accusing him of risking injury to quarterback Will Howard to "stick it to" Indiana coach Curt Cignetti.

He then called out Howard's trolling gestures toward Cignetti after the QB pretended to take a drag of a cigarette before putting it out and yelled, "Google that s**t," while seemingly pointing towards the Indiana coach. Howard referenced one of Coach Day's viral quotes.

"You're not THE Ohio State University, just one of 'em," Doyel wrote on his X.

Coach Day has been outspoken and has done a tremendous job with Indiana this season, leading them to a 10-1 record. Even Howard hailed the opposition coach after Ohio won the contest on Saturday 38-15.

"I just try to say we don't listen to that stuff on social media, but we hear it, man," Howard told Fox Sports's Jenny Taft after the game (via Sports Illustrated). I"I was just having some fun with it. I got a lot of respect for those guys, man. I think what coach Cignetti’s done over there, he’s done a heck of a job."

However, Gregg Doyel's aggressive take didn't sit well with several fans. Many referenced his infamous interaction with Caitlin Clark, which saw him got him banned from covering the Indiana Fever star in person again after an inappropriate conversation with her.

Here's what one fan wrote about Doyel after he was in the spotlight again for negative reasons:

"The guy who wanted to drink Caitlin Clark’s bath water and got suspended is angry."

Another fan tweeted about his actions during the Clark controversy:

"Hey @BarstoolTate is this the perv that tried to “stick it to” Caitlin Clark?" one fan said.
"This is the guy who got suspended for being creepy with Caitlin Clark and got pulled from covering her games. Maybe he's not the one who should be giving people advice on how to behave in their workplaces," another fan added.
"You Indy Star folks really are bitter about Ohio State playing for 60 minutes," one fan wrote.

What happened between Caitlin Clark and Gregg Doyel?

Caitlin Clark's introductory news conference in May after she got drafted was marred with a controversial incident featuring reporter Gregg Doyel. The Indiana-based writer's interaction with the Fever star was widely deemed inappropriate. The situation escalated after Doyel began his questioning of Clark with a heart gesture, which she often does for her family at games.

Clark began the exchange, saying:

"You like that?"
"I like that you're here, I like that you're here," Doyel replied.
"Yeah, I do that to my family after every game, so ... Pretty cool," Clark explained herself.
"Well, start doing it to me, and we'll get along just fine," Doyel responded.

Doyel got banned from covering Clark in person ever again. He apologized to her in a column and on social media.
