Skylar Diggins-Smith delivered a mic-drop-worthy line after hitting a game-winner Friday night. The WNBA star capped off her Unrivaled league debut with a walk-off 3-point shot.

The six-time All-Star created just enough separation in the waning moments of her matchup against the Mist, delivering the Lunar Owls a victory in the new 3-on-3 league’s first game. After hitting the shot, Diggins-Smith offered a statement so cool, calm and collected, it seemed rehearsed:

"They don't know what the back of my baseball card looks like," Diggins-Smith said.

Baseball card backs typically feature brief player bios and career stats, and her statement conveyed how she feels underestimated, with many unaware of her true capabilities.

"(Lunar Owls coach) DJ (Sackman) and ethe team are always encouraging me to be really aggressive. Got loose for a few opportunities... and it worked out well for us," Diggins-Smith added.

Diggins-Smith finished the game with 21 points, four rebounds and one assist as the Lunar Owls edged out the Mist, 84-80.

Skylar Diggins-Smith on Unrivaled competition

Few players had a debut like Skylar Diggins-Smith in the Unrivaled league’s inaugural game. The four-time All-WNBA First Team selection secured a victory for the Lunar Owls with her game-winning shot, making history in the league’s first-ever contest.

The league, which consists of 36 players, launched its inaugural season Friday night, showcasing a roster brimming with WNBA talent. Many participants are league champions, MVPs, All-Stars or highly touted rookies and sophomores.

When asked about the level of competition in Unrivaled, Diggins-Smith highlighted the league’s elite talent pool.

"I think I came out the womb... I knew the players that were coming here... I knew the caliber of player that were coming here... I know coming in here you better be competitive or you'll probably get your a** busted," Diggins-Smith said.

Skylar Diggins-Smith averaged 15.1 points, 6.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game for the Seattle Storm in the 2024 season, her 10th in the WNBA.
